I say, I say, I say, Chris

Isn't it that GM, GW, GJ etc are provinces of Great Britain as opposed
to member states of the Commonwealth of Great Britain & Northern
Ireland? Wouldn't redefining the provinces of GB as Commonwealth member
states require history be rewritten?

Regardless, I cannot agree the nature of the event would be unchanged
were your proposal adopted. Currently all provinces of GB share a
substantially level playing field. If each province were considered an
independent entity within the Commonwealth Contest, the playing field
will be tipped to favour operation from the provinces. The minor
provinces would as a consequence become the most advantaged.

I make no claim over whether such a change might be good, bad or ugly,
merely that it WOULD indeed alter "the nature of the contest".

Just give me a moment to find my tin hat. :-)
