There was a little bump in SFI over the contest weekend, which
progressed even further up into the mid-80s during the week after WW
SSB. Certainly enough to open low latitude paths on 10.
From Zone 34 it certainly felt like 10 was open properly, via the F
layer, with long periods of propagation into the Indian Ocean area in
the mornings and into South America in the afternoon and evening, along
with some good Eu/Central Asia openings.
On 15, we even heard JA3YBK long path at a good 58 at 2300Z on Sunday (1
a.m. local) - we'd already worked them of course - shows what kick-ass
antennas (at the JA end) and a bit of solar flux can do.
It was radically different from the apalling 10m conditions in WW CW at
much lower latitude PJ2 in 2007, for example.
The Palos Verdes sundancers have done their best - solar maximum here we
come!
