[UK-CONTEST] 144mhz UKAC 3/11

My contest buddy M0GMG and I actively participate '/P' in the 6M and 70cm AC
contests (we've got spare antennas in stock for those bands - so we 'can'!)
We're not actively contesting on 2M at the moment (maybe next season), so
I've been using the opportunity to add to the throng and do some 2M
operating from home. Having recently returned to radio from a 10 year
absence, the antenna system here is relatively basic for the time being -
11Y at 22', which is below roof ridge level; aim to address that next year.
Anyway, having set the scene as a bit limited to start with, conditions were
so~so to the north, on Tuesday, working two 'usual suspects' in GM and one
in GI, two with fair signals. My 'home' square, IO83, seems to have a fairly
high turn-out for AC contests - Bolton and Macclesfield Clubs both seem to
be encouraging members to have a go, so good numbers of local stations
worked, though I missed a few regulars.
To the south, conditions were pretty poor - only worked a handful of
stations and those seemed to be in more far flung parts, leaving a big hole
in the middle of the country. Heard someone working '8CUL and, after a fair
bit of fiddling, managed to pull them from the noise - unsurprisingly they
couldn't hear me. No sign of Bryn '4DEZ, which is unheard of - where were
you Bryn!
