Chris,
Use a wireless modem and a single splitter positioned right next to
where your phone line comes into the house - this gives you the best
ADSL speed anyway. Then connect the house wiring into the phone output
of this splitter. In this way you only use one ADSL splitter and the
chokes in it help to isolate your modem. Or you can eliminate the house
wiring altogether and use a single DECT cordless phone (ones with built
in answering machine also available if you need it) connected directly
into the filter with the cordless extensions wherever you need them in
the house.
I also wind as many turns as possible of the line from the ADSL filter
to the modem round a big ferrite ring I did this initially as I found
that MW broadcasting pick-up on my long overhead phone line badly
reduced the ADSL noise margin (find this on the statistics page from the
modem). This should also remove the 160 and 80 m signals getting into
the modem from the phone line. I believe there was also a filter to do
the same thing described in a recent Radcom but I can't remember the
exact details of this.
