I guess many of you will have received the request from Bob WA1Z for your logs.
I don't feel comfortable about it, am I wrong not to wish to do it as I know that many do use it and, after all, is it really any different to me looking at calls already worked during a contest for a clue in times of hard copy?
If the other guy can't get my call after a couple of tries I really don't like the guessing games when he is obviously using SCP and prefer to try him again later.
It might be a contesting generation thing, we of the older generation tend to follow what our elmers taught us. I recall as a contesting rookie, talking after one contest to a well known and respected contester who still posts here very regularly. The subject was about a station who had been sending at a superfast speed and I just couldn't be sure of the c/s so I asked him what that guys c/s was.(*) He responded to the effect my question was not playing the game, just be true to yourself and record what you heard. At the time that made me feel quite small, but it was good advice
which I have followed ever since. No need to ask him what he thinks of guys who record entire contests or wait until deadline to submit logs in order to check the c/s list of 'received logs'
How do you feel about it, do you send them off or not?
73 Brian 5B4AIZ.
(*) I got it wrong.
