Interesting comments on CQ100.

I am a subscriber to CQ100, I wouldn't say I use it regularly and activity
is still low, I have never worked anyone apart from stations on 14Mhz, but I
don't believe anyone has mentioned that CW is mode that a great many
subscribers use.

In my view this puts it in a different avenue to Skype, MSN etc. And you
can't use CQ100 without an amateur call sign! Stations are found by calling
CQ or by skeds not by adding contacts as in Skype or MSN etc.

It's great for practice, and improving my skills, using an interfaced key in
the audio input, rather than a keyboard.

It's very useful for having DX contacts when condx on the HF bands are poor.
However, I think the "simulation" of the HF bands in CQ100 is a little
confusing, hi, and I am still not sure how it works.

How many people now use e.g. DX Clusters to find out levels of activity on
the bands and the frequency of rare stations rather than tuning up and down
the bands as in days gone by? That is not radio, but is accepted. The radio
is then only used as a means of contacting the station. There are no
Clusters which support CQ100.....yet.

I can't understand all this negativity in comments posted on this forum, it
makes me smile. I do agree with all of the comments made by Don G3XTT in a
very well presented posting.

IMO we should embrace all new technology which are in any way radio related.
