I haven't been involved in adjudicating contests for several years (hence
"... when I was an adjudicator..." in my previous message), and cannot speak
for current practice. But I suspect, and hope, its still similar, albeit
updated for the electronic age.

I gather that Peter is an adjudicator,  I always thought (and still do) that
part of the adudicators job is to ensure fair play though the application of
the rules.  If we have anyone on the HFCC reading this perhaps he would like
to comment.  At the same time perhaps he should make public the "guidelines
adjudicators have for bending the rules"

My view remains the same you get penalized if you break the rules and if the
adjudicators do not like doing it they should either stop adjudicating
and/or get the rules changed.
