[UK-CONTEST] AFS - fewer key-clickers?

HI Nigel et al
Yes, I noticed this too, although there were still a few with quite bad clicks, still a few un-modded
FT1000mps around I guess. I wonder if it is a tactic thing? I shouldn't be that cynical I suppose, hi!
Several stations not giving a 3 figure serial number and some even omitting the 599 altogether. Time-
saving, but it does upset the rhythym at the time.
I too found the last hour quite slow, in fact nearly gave up at 5.30 it was so slow. I was going to put
up my inverted V for this test, but chickened out with the four inches of snow. Next year perhaps.
My cloud warmer didn't do too bad in the event, but still can't compete with the northern stations.
Regards from Roger, G3LDI
Swardeston, Norfolk.

Hello Ian,
Interesting comment on the lack of the much loved
key-clickers during AFS..... G3TXF recently replaced his
clicky un-moded FT-1k-MP with a K3.... no doubt this has
contributed in some small way to the sad demise of those
delightful clix! Sorry about that.

I could only manage a couple of hours but managed 78
contacts. My CW is getting better and I thoroughly enjoyed
it. The time just flew by. The K3 was great and the
signals were just popping out of the band :) Thanks to all
who worked me. This was my first real attempt at AFS and I
will be back! One thing that was noticeable was the lack of
stations with key clicks this time. Only once did I work a
station and have to ask for the number 3 times because of
bad clicks from an adjacent station.
Thanks once again for a fun afternoon and although I will be
in the SSB leg next week, I can't see it being as much fun!
