My penny worth
1.8 MHz CW CONTESTS
Whist fiddleing with the rules for the 160m CW contest why not introduce an
SSB 160m Contest?
AFS SUPER-LEAGUE
My cynical view suggests that all this will do is introduce louder (and
probably) wider signals on the bands. I do not believe we need it.
CONTEST RULES
Remove the rediculus rule which places 100w stations with beams in a
catergory where they compeate against 400w (or 400w plus) stations. We are
suposed to improve our stations and we used to accept the principle that the
minimum amount of power to make the QSO was the correct amount of power,
therefore antenna improvement was a good way forward the RSGB now activly
discriminates against operators who do this.
ROPOCO CONTESTS
Good idea to introduce an SSB section - you may end up actually encouraging
some newcomers.
HF CHAMPIONSHIP
I hope this will result in a better balance across the many contesting modes
currently I belive this championship is loaded towards the CW freaks. I
have said before that it is possible to win the HF Championship using only
CW and not possible to win it using only SSB (or any other mode). To make it
a true championship an entry should be the highest positions by a station
using a personal call (ie no Contest calls allowed) in 2 CW contests plus 2
SSB contests plus 1 RTTY contest plus 1 other data mode contest
REAL-TIME SCORING
I would like to know what the RSGB Contest Committee currenty see as the
benifits of real time scoring. My current view is that it would be a waste
of effort unless it become mandatory for stations submitting an enter to
take part.
