Hi Simon
Had some experience with K3 and am impressed, especially its performance
to weight ratio!. Not sure whether it has 6 metres if u plan to operate
there.
I replaced my FT-1000mp with a FT-2000 earlier this year - and am very
psed with result (I do like the FT-1000 but it doesn't have 50MHz and many
other modern features built into the FT-2000). Having sed that, the
FT-1000 does work on 5 MHz TX/RX without the hassle of having to set up
pre-set memories in the FT-2000 (hence I have kept it solely for 60m!).
As for the IC-7600, it is well out of my price range.
For the costs involved I suggest it would be well worth your while
visiting a dealer / amateur with each of the rigs you mention.
Good luck in your quest.
