No, its entirely different. A private spotting network is just that. Its 
keeping what you consider useful competitive information to your own team.

If you think the information is of use to others you should spot them on 
the public cluster that way everyone (who wants to) sees the activity 
and more qso's may take place.

Technically this is straightforward to achieve, would it benefit VHF 
contesting.. nope!
