I certainly enjoyed the contest, as being the only one where the UK is the
target for DX stations. This year I had the first Sri Lankan station to ever
return to my CQ call, together with a number of other countries that I rarely
work.

Don notes that there needs to be more UK stations active to make the contest
interesting for the DX. As propagation improves, could it not be promoted
outside the circles of regular contesters as an opportunity to work DX? This
might be through the "HF" column in RadCom and DX newsletters. This month, CQ WW
got a mention in the "HF" column, while the 21/28MHz only got a rather downbeat
mention in "Sport Radio", which is probably not read by
non-contesters. Broadening its exposure might considerably increase the number
of active UK stations, even if many are only active for short periods.

Also, in the October RadCom "Data" column, it was suggested that PSK63 might be
included in mainstream contests. While this may not be greeted with universal
joy here, it would enable those with limited CW skills to participate in the
contest, even when conditions are marginal.

Maybe, these ideas, combined with the other suggestions, would give the critical
mass needed for the contest to continue.

73, Tim, G8JXV
