I appreciate that for many countries with few licencees that such certificates would be of 'throw away' value but I had in mind the amount of interest which may be raised in populated countries such as DL, UA, LZ etc where guys would know they have some competition and wish to be top of their tree. Also the USA where a W7 who presently wouldn't even take a look until he discovered he would be competing with only other W7's.
A down loadable certificate would cost next to nowt, many guys love them and seek them out, just a sprat to catch a mackerel.
Don takes a pragmatic view and makes many valid points. It may well be that the trend is to larger contests but what about those who have entered and enjoyed this one for so many years and those who are new to the game who are intimidated by the big contests. If small pools such as this one are to disappear where are guys going to learn the ropes and be fed into the large pools. Salmon farms still have corals for the spry!
If this contest is finally to disappear it would still be good to know that we gave our best shot into saving it!
BTW Don, I really did not approach this with my 5B hat on but rather my RSGB one.
73 Brian.
