Mike,

Use the following tariff code which I use for all telemetry related radio equipment including ham radio stuff:

851770 90 00 'Apparatus for transmission or reception of data - parts - other'

It is zero rated so no duty will be payable but you may still have to pay VAT - maybe not if the valves are second-hand.

<Does anyone have the customs code so that a friend bringing me valves won't have to pay duty and VAT when he arrives with my tubes. 

They were 2nd hand 3-500z's.
