[UK-CONTEST] More ideas on the RSGB 80m Super-Sprint....?

Hello Dave,
Yes, there's definitely something in this.
How about scoring it the same way they do with RTTY and PSK
in the DATA section of the CCs (where each mode contributes
a maximum of 50%)? Do the same for a three-mode
ninety-minute RSGB 80m Super-Sprint where each mode (CW, SSB
and RTTY) counts for 33.3% of the total score. That would
avoid the problem of having timed 30-minute sections (either
fixed by the contest rules or self-selected within the 90
minutes by the participant.).
That could be a real Super-Sprint. Ninety minutes with three
modes CW, SSB and RTTY and with your score on each mode
counting for a maximum of one third the total. In order to
do well you'd have to make good entries on all three modes.
There'd be plenty of scope for developing an "operating
strategy", if that's what you're after.
Three "mini-contests" crammed into ninety minutes..... that
could indeed be quite a real "sprint"!
The number of these 80m Super-Sprints should be at least the
current number (eight) or could perhaps be twice as frequent
with 16 within the four months?
The present "Sprint" format surely needs a boost. Could this
be it?
What do others (and the great and the good on the HFCC)
think?

2012
I really like the idea of using the 3 modes during the
Sprint. No need to define 30 minute periods, allow freedom
to make your own choice. The extra tactical decisions would
bring a new dimension to Sprinting.
Unless something is done I can't see myself bothering with
them again.
As for January CC, the decision has been made. In 2006-8
there was no January round. As far as I know the World
didn't come to an end. I would have thought the AFS events
were enough 80m UK Contesting for one month
- certainly my XYL thinks so.
Last point (thread-creep) - why are the HFCC persisting with
incuding EU Sprints in their Championship. It is quite
obvious they are not well supported by UK Stations. It is
not up to RSGB to drum up support for other folk's events.
