We at the Martello Tower Group had an enjoyable day on Sunday.

We arrived at the tower at around 10:00 and spent around six hours putting aerials together, stripping the shack and rebuilding it with a new shelf, moving cables and things around to give us a more comfortable operating environment.

We warmed the wireless and amplifier up at around 16:00 and ran for half an hour, picking up an easy 31 QSOs in that time. We could have done much more but we had other stuff to test. Everyone who worked us seemed grateful and we had a little pileup going for a few minutes.

We had fun and it was nice to get G0PKT back on air for a contest and in preparation for the UKACs in 2012. I wouldn't have wanted to operate for the full eight hours though, perhaps this contest could be shortened to six hours as that's a much more reasonable length and that seems a popular format.

We'll be on the 2m UKAC tonight from JO01, please beam east.
