Dave et al.,

A small group of local dedicated like minded amateurs can do fairly well, even against the big boys. Tall Trees has done well enough to come in the top ten of the 80mCC series most years, AND we are all within 35km of the club meeting place where we regularly meet to discuss progress on various projects and enjoy a friendly pint. I don't think we have had more than 5 of us in any event throughout the last two years and sadly we lost one of our number to the big C earlier this year. However half of us have nice low noise levels as we live in the 'country'.

Should too many people follow the idea of 'Escape to the Country' with their noise generators (plasma TVs) then we shall have to buy the whole county or move to islands, at least for the time being there's not too many of them. Recently next door changed hands and the new ooupants are of the escapees breed, and rather than let the grass be grazed they prefer to turn the 2 acres there into a large garden, hey ho, their ride on mower will soon run out of fuel....hopefully, and one more noise source will stop. I can cope with electric fences, and arcing transformers and sizzling power lines, but people bring noise too close.
