Not one of my better efforts !

Due to a problem with the luffing winch on the main mast I was unable to put
any 2m aerials up until the difficulty is solved. So I opted to be qrv after
a fashion, by patching in to a single yagi of my EME array. That might sound
rather grand, but the aerial is only 10 feet up ! Anyway, at least I was qrv
and still in the restricted section, which is where I've decided to put
myself this year.

Search and pounce seemed to be the order of the day, and not surprisingly I
was unable to establish a run of any significance with the modest set-up.

GM8OEG was an excellent signal at one point. Sadly, he was involved in a
long and difficult qso with someone who could barely hear him, never to be
heard again.

I worked a good number in IO83, but missed many more from this hive of
activity - they were simply too busy working each other. Take note chaps -
the weak ones are always the most interesting !

I do feel somewhat "out on a limb" here in Essex. I'm sure I'm just looking
for an excuse, but there's lots of north-south activity, which in many cases
leaves East Anglia in a null on the beam.

Hopefully next time round I'll have some metalwork up at a decent height
again. Meanwhile, hope to work some of you in the 432 AFS at the weekend.

Regards

John G4ZTR
