I think I might have been the victim at that moment right at the beginning
when you realised you were sending what you didn't intend to be sending.
Been there myself so afforded myself a little chuckle, not at you, but with
you !
But on a more serious note I had two reports after the end of the contest of
a ever so slightly "raspy" signal - so my apologies if I was either the
"buzzer". I put up a complete new antenna for this contest and tested
everything out thoroughly beforehand, listening to the transmitted signal on
the station receiver. Perfect.
Then 30 minutes before the contest started I thought I'd try and connect up
the rig control port to the PC. Don't know why. Boredom. Insanity. I
certainly didn't need to have freq data coming back to the PC on this
contest and you really shouldn't change things just before starting should
you ?
Anyway, looks like a new ground loop was born and I reckon that's when the
buzzing started.
Perhaps best to listen to the sigs shortly after the contest has got
underway. Will do next time.
Had lots of fun in the contest - top band being a first for me since I've
never had space for antennas before. Still don't have space now hi (that's
another story best kept under the veil of darkness. All I can say is it's a
good job propagation favours the darkness hours or folk round here would
have seen what I got up to with that temporary antenna...)
135 Qs from a less than ideal antenna. Would have liked many more but
there's always next time.
Thanks to all who participated.
Bernie
