Everything you say is true. However this ignores that amateur radio is
not just about contests and there are loads of other activities going
on. The inevitable problem with contests is that they take over the
whole band for themselves and for anybody else it is tough luck. The
same thing is happening at the moment on the other bands with the UBA
contest - which I thought might be interesting but it is dominated by
the eastern Eu stations (not even that many ON stations around...).
Being a CW only operator this is one weekend when I don't even bother
to listen on Top Band.
