I agree was too common. I hated the repeating back especially when you 
knew your signal was lifting his RX off the bench. Understandable if 
weak and QSB so had to construct the QRA from several repeats.

At VARC (G3VER/P), we did use on Sunday our 70cm station to train a 
couple of M6s who are13 years old. To give them sufficient QSOs we used 
an alternative club call without VER in it so they got sufficient QSOs 
and gave our competitors points. Meant we were disadvantaged but 
invaluable training and perhaps future contest operators when us oldies 
are past it or SK. Being new they often asked for repeats. After NFD had 
finished we switched them to the 2m radio (with the PA off) so they 
could use their own calls in the last hour of the backpackers contest, 
while we took all the rest of the kit down.

Anyone else use their NFD set up for training young ops?
