Well, I was on G5LK/P 70cms (as usual). I was trying to win (as always).
It is my practice to do the read back if there is *any* doubt. An
element of this doubt arises from being somewhat dyslexic and wanting
to check back that what is on the check slip was what was sent.
Similarly my protocol is to send my info twice so the other end
gets to check it is the same. I figure that it is the interest
of both parties to make the contact one that scores points.
Of course the QSO rate on 70cms is such that we have this luxury.
So long as the duration of the propagation exceeds the duration of
the exchange which was the case for all of the contacts I made
we have plenty of time.
Now when on 2m, or when the QSO rate was like it was in the
year when we had an infinite supply of OZ+SM in the last
20mins of the contest, I usually take the chance that we
get it right first time.
