I agree with ALL you say Chris. 

As ex-chairman of the Newbury club we strove hard to win every year since the 80m CCs started and were always the bridesmaid and never the bride. We are medium sized club but with the normal run of LOCAL members. Whilst we do have half a dozen or so dedicated contesters we found it impossible to beat Contest Groups where the majority of members are dedicated to contesting and can often be scattered over a wide area and able to take advantage of propagation changes which affect, in particular, the first couple of months of these contests.
