Hi guys,

I'm afraid I don't subscribe to this group, but Bob G3ORY has drawn my attention to the fact that I have been referred to in a recent thread - so here goes.

I remember well Ken G3LVP at CTS Stone, and he is quite right about the ancient ZC1 which I installed on the top of my wardrobe there. This so inspired one of our fellow students (John Edwards, from Criggion Radio) that he went and got his own licence - and I see he is still listed as GW3TCV though I have long since lost contact with him.

I was at Bearley Radio at the time, but got sucked into London where I drifted out of radio into electronic switching, eventually escaping back to the Midlands in Training Management. This gave my last vsit to Stone, but in a different role to that of a rookie student. I've been retired now for 20 years, so it is all history.

My radio activity these days is mostly direction finding (in association with my main interest of orienteering) and I'm heavily committed just now to planning one day of the RSGB British Champs in Herefordshire this coming Saturday 28th May. You may have spotted my picture in Radcom last year, and I even made the front cover a couple of years back!

Good to be in touch again anyway...

73, Robert Vickers G3ORI
