Subject: CW in V/UHF contests
Hello, from the other side of the channel.
At F6KCP and F8KTH-TM2C we always have a key plugged in and a CW op available.
As we generally have quite a big station we can often be heard , but the return
path is the limiting factor, so people frequently reply to us in CW, which we
either reply to in CW or SSB.
We generally only call CQ in CW during the small hours of the night (this seams
to be the norm , over here). I'm not sure that we qsy down band to the CW
section either (staying in the SSB part of the band), alternating CW and SSB CQ
calls.
It is amazing how CW gets through when all else fails !!! What is the estimated
'gain' of a CW signal over a SSB signal ? 10dB 20db ?

Hi
Is there no one using CW in this contest these days? I spent a long
time on and around 090 calling CQ but no takers at all. (thought it
might be a nice idea to reward those who made the effort!)
Many SSB stations on, but once again they seem awful deaf down south!
Stations which are a genuine 57 on the Meter here can't copy.
Running full power here from a site 600 ft up with a clear take off over
the sea.
