Hi Steve et al

I don't think it makes any difference to this league table cos the 'qrate'
hour result is as you describe i.e. the greatest no. of QSOs in a 60-minute
period. All of the entries are from leading stations doing 24/36/48 hrs in
major contests I think.

By pure chance in 1980 I picked up a copy of '73' magazine which had a
report on the VP2KC operation - as far as I know they were using paper
logging and the QSOs made by JA3ODC were in Japanese, so I am unsure
why that result is included in what is (mostly) a computer-logging era
table. I was amazed when I read the VP2KC article and thought (naively) that
I could achieve that QSO rate (I still think that 30 years later!)

You will notice that almost all of the top SSB scores are from the
Caribbean - working loud well-disciplined U.S. pile-ups.  There are quite a
few audio clips online which make good listening.
