[UK-CONTEST] cqwwwpx

Bob,
It's one station with only one transmitted signal at any one time. He
occupies two frequencies by extremely short transmissions, eg "G8HGN TEST"
at 40 wpm or spoken very quickly, nothing more. He then listens for a second
or so while immediately starting to send a similar message on the other
frequency. He is able to listen to the first frequency (even in the same
band) while transmitting on the second frequency - if he receives a caller
he immediately stops the CQ on 2nd frequency and goes back to him extremely
briefly, but immediately starts the 2nd frequency CQ when his QSO partner is
sending his exchange. He never leaves either of his frequencies for more
than a second or so as not to lose it to another contester who happens
along. It is all perfectly feasible - requires superb in-band filters and
racks up the contacts faster. It also requires an extremely sharp brain
and/or great teamwork between two operators. It is allowed within the rules
at present as there is only one transmitted signal at any one moment. CQWW
rules about this are being discussed. The technology and operating skills
are to be applauded but, as others have pointed out, if this grows to become
normal then our bands which are already over-crowded during major contests
could become totally clogged with lots of stations each 'occupying' several
frequencies and rapidly switching between them.

Hi,
First off let me say I don't operate on HF. But I understand what is going
on technically.
However what happens when another station finds what he thinks is a clear
freaquency only to be told the frequency is occupied by the said station who
is actually on a different frequency, .i.e. how does the said station keep
two active frequencies when only transmitting on one, and if he does,
doesn't that infringe the rules?
