[UK-CONTEST] 144MHz Trophy - lack of UK activity

Yes I remember what it is like sitting in Kent. Beam East for
most of the contest then swing the antenna up the centre of the
UK and clean the rest up.
Now being, just about as far North as you can get leaves
me with a virtually impossible task on 2m. I would need such a
large set up that the stations in Northern England that were
beaming South could hear me off the back of there antennas.
Plus I would need to be loud enough to be heard by those
further South that may be beaming North.
So that's going to add up to a rather big station for a
limited return in terms of activity, I'm afraid the good days of 2m
would seem to have gone, but I still may try it again. But would it
be worth it.? I am worried that there is not enough suitable fixed
stations in G capable of doing the same to make it worth it. ie
800km any day.
