[UK-CONTEST] Portable Generators....

Bob,

Honda generators are pretty much the gold standard but you'll pay dearly for
them. There are a number of 'knock off' versions around one of which you'll
see branded by a number of companies - Kipor, Hyundai, Machine Mart to name
a few. I ran one of the knock off versions quite happily, three Tuesday
evenings a month, for a little over a year, at which point it started to
stall occasionally. A replacement spark plug seemed to cure that for a
while, but the problem then returned along with starting problems, then the
pull cord failed...... at some point I'll have someone look at it and may
squeeze some more service out of it.
On the one hand it cost a third the price of a Honda, on the other, it
lasted a year.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] Portable Generators....

Slightly off topic but I would be interested to hear what portable contest
stations are using in the way of generators and what equipment it powers.

My club runs a single radio, Acom 1000 and a couple of laptops.
