I agree.

The most daunting part of VHF/NFD is finding a site that is good
enough to be competitive with no unexpected neighbours.

Once you are through that, the complexity needed to put together a
leading station has got to the point where it is way beyond the
ability of any single club.

So this is now a competition that has much in parallel with F1:
everyone is surprised if winner is not one of two well known
teams, and most entrants are there with no hope of getting a
podium.
