At Bob's suggestion I connected to his GB3UJS-3 full RBN feed and left the dongle sucking in spots for a while. After an hour the rough stats told me a total traffic of 3.91Mb which means 100Mb should cover it over 24 hours. Should be able to watch a bit of telly as well if it gets really slack.....
Don't normally do assisted but there doesn't appear to be any choice in ssb field day...(?)

Hi,
Has anyone ever measured the volume of data transfer for a telnet connection to a cluster node?
Going to play around with a broadband dongle in ssb field day and our PAYG device has a 500Mb daily 'limit' and not really sure how that's going to work out in practice. Not sure how strict they'll be if you do go over, it's a T-Mobile dongle.
Thanks,
Stewart, GW0ETF

Of course, you could also set filters to stop the traffic you really don't
need and cut down the amount of bandwidth required.

I heard earlier that Bryn, G4DEZ went SK yesterday from a heart attack.

The bands will sadly be a quieter place without Bryn and his massive signal from JO03.

Sad news indeed, always a consistent signal from JO03.
He will surely be missed especially by the Tuesday night UKAC guys.

That's very sad. I had many a skirmish with Bryn during his tenure as
Chairman of the VHFCC, and later whilst I was on the CC and he was a
'customer'. All done in a very gentlemanly way. Bryn leaves the hobby
a substantial legacy.

RIP

RIP Bryn G4DEZ I'm very sad to hear the news

There should be an East coast beacon call 'named' after him. would
appropriate.
