If the op is using a lossy hosepipe for a feedline he might justify it
as being for 400 watts at the antenna feedpoint! I remember the late
G3EQF justifying his well-over-the-limit PA by having 300 feet of RG8U
coax to his 20m monobander. Why he didn't try open wire feeder for most
of that 300 feet, with appropriate baluns at each end, I'll never
know.... much cheaper than coax & much less lossy, albeit rather more
complicated :-)
