Bob

It¡¯s good to see your report.

I¡¯d say that your LFA is working exactly as designed. It will be quieter
because of particularly low pick-up from the sides and rear. I use a 6 ele
h/b LFA on 4m and the effect is much the same; this is useful because I
have some local qrm sources.

In some circumstances, for contesting I would prefer a conventional yagi
with modest side lobes. At least then you know what is going on around you !

Regards

Hi,

Quick report on the above. I was trying out a new antenna, 11 ele LFA to
see how it performed against my old 2x15 CueDee's.

Worked some EU for the first 40 mins or so then started to pick up UK
stations. At first I thought the antenna was not working too well, although
I had had contacts over 400km already. The band seemed remarkably quiet all
round the UK, and a few CQ's didn't net much. So I adopted S & P tactics
and that worked better, still difficult to the NW, but did work MM0GPZ/p,
G4FZN/p and MW0ATI. So not sure if I'm hearing as well as before although
worked 12 UK squares which is as good as I've done before, but missed out
on IO80/90 & IO84 that I know were active.

So I'll have to do some more assessments and see how things pan out.
Apologies if the formatting on the report doesn't show correctly.
