Ed GW3SQX has said that the RSGBCC *do* note (and hopefully value) the
comments made on this reflector....

Many thanks to all those who gave us their input as a result of the
report last month on the Contest Committee's latest deliberations. We
do read everything, and respond as necessary. Sometimes, the points
that people make are such that the Committee will have an email
discussion, so you may not get an immediate reply. But I will respond
in the next week or so as necessary, and also to those who sent
off-reflector suggestions.

The committee monitors everything on uk-contest, whether relating to
HF, VHF or UHF contest matters. Generally there's no need for a
reply, but we always try to get the sense of UK contesters' opinion
(if that's possible) and it feeds into the discussion at our regular
face-to-face meetings.

Ed Taylor, GW3SQX
Chairman, RSGB Contest Committee

The alternative is that dozens of these messages would be copied to Ed
and co. directly to ensure that our viewpoints reach them. This
wouldn't work very well.

There is some frustration over communication at present with some
recent examples over understanding if / how entrants can (fairly)
influence or give input to proposed rule changes and be part of the
evolution of the contest programme. (Power levels, SCCs, M5 VHF rules,
KST, PSK, Field Days, club definitions etc. - the list goes on.)

To help resolve this, there are plans underway to improve
communication and feedback with the committee, and with other areas of
the RSGB in general. Let's see how this works.

Lee G0MTN
