As someone who took part in the 1970s 21/28 contests and more recently in 2006 onwards I have to reluctantly agree that this contest has had its day and is no longer viable.

So I'm definitely in favour of the new proposal but with some reservations:

1. Prefer a 14/21/28 format keeping the unique HF flavour of the 21/28 contest and making it easier for those with simpler set-ups
2. Keep the restricted section- there are far too few contests where you can be competitive with 100w and a wire antenna and 21/28 is one of those. For those who want to use beams- enter the open section even if you can run only 100W...those of us with wires compete against beams in virtually every other contest.
3. 12 hours over one day preferred- this is perfect to encourage a maximum of competitive entries and would fit naturally with the 14/21/28 format.
4. Keep serial numbers and RST but use a simpler UK multiplier than postcode- this will increase outside UK casual participation who might otherwise be confused with the exchange.
5. Keep equal points for SSB and CW- I can't see the justification for the difference.
6. Not in favour of exact frequency recording- it will just reduce participation and is really only necessary to discourage cheating by the top competitors not your average entrant.

We should all support this new DX contest- argue about the details, but then accept the consensus opinion and get on and enjoy it...
