170 Qs - 110 Mults - 56.1K points. Busy week ahead so won't be able to submit my log for 7 or 8 days. Guess I am one of those b'stards to be wupped!!
Slow but far less boring than the outdated British Empire contest!! Propagation to the east in the first half was dire (OK I was feeling a bit fragile
after an evening of excellent local real ale and dinner at the best Cantonese restaurant in Nottingham!) but the whole thing livened up later when the
western path opened up during the afternoon and early evening. W6 was very strong on 15m and some really good SA mults on 10m. Nice to break the ZD7
pile-up.
K3, Acom 1000, A4S at 50ft, and N1MM of course.
It is interesting to look at today's activity and compare it with all the drum banging that has been going on recently. What is very obvious is that
this event lacks serious marketing both within and outside the UK. Now, having served on HFCC for 15 years 1985-2000, and been chair for six of those
years I have to admit that some of that mistake lies squarely at my feet, my apologies. We sat back and assumed that because we were British, people
would want to work us! The real world ain't like that no more!
You only have to look at the rise and rise of the IOTA contest so see how effective marketing can help. Why don't those people who are so keen to wup
us and the contest committee into THEIR way of thinking take this opportunity to grab this contest and turn it into a success? Hint - Darren at
5B/G0TSM told me he was called by many M3s and M6s.
Must go now and find my passport or else I might not be let into Glasgow tmw!
