Agreed, there were no sound facilities at all at Horwood, not even 
hearing loops for those with hearing aids (I didn't have them with me 
on Saturday, but I seem to have reached that magic age...). The RSGB 
had enough problems setting up some mikes/speakers for the opening 
presentation, complete with deafening whistles.. As a conference centre 
Horwood is severely limited.

And of course your problems with the laptop Ian showed that nothing 
goes to plan. Yes, BATC could have done something if pushed but they 
would have been somewhat restricted by the problems you mention.
