At the AMSAT-UK Colloquium in Guildford BATC did a superb job providing live video streaming to the web with chat facility that enabled viewers around the world to ask the presenters questions. The videos where subsequently made available in the BATC.TV archive, see

AMSAT-UK are very grateful to the BATC volunteers (the same few dedicated volunteers who seem to do all the events in the UK). Web streaming an event encourages more to attend in subsequent years.
Videoing let alone web streaming all five lecture streams of an RSGB Convention would be a very expensive - you may hard pushed to get enough volunteers to handle an event of this size, so an outside company would be required costing many thousands of pounds.
There's no doubt the Convention has outgrown it's current venue, it was standing room only for many presentations and some, such as the Raspberry Pi talk, didn't even have spare standing room it was packed. The catering was completely overwhelmed on the Saturday, the venue couldn't handle the numbers.
It's to be hoped that the Society can find a much larger venue with good catering for future events but clearly such a venue won't be easy to find.
