I attended this ¾ hr meeting and came out rather underwhelmed at the forum
organisation to say the least. 

 

The first 15 minutes were “wasted” seeking potential agenda items & then the
Chairmen moved on to the awards.  

 

This was rather disorganised, the (50 or so?) awards were announced with
mostly no indication to the uninitiated, of precisely what the award was for
e.g. “the next award is for the John Smith Cup which goes to the ABC club”
with no indication what it was all about, no disrespect to any John Smith or
the ABC club present!

 

There was some discussion on a few other items : –

 

- The 80m CC contest for 2013, not likely to be any substantive rule changes
but two requests from the floor to consider reverting back to a larger
radius e.g. to 35 miles from 35 Km, Committee will consider.

- Some consideration to changing the 21/28MHz contest to an all band affair,
no decisions but the Committee made it clear they were not very supportive
of the proposal despite overwhelming support from the majority in the room.

- Potential rule changes to the VHF field day which I think would simplify
club participation

- Brief announcement concerning an individual disqualification from the 80m
CC contest this year

 

All in all rather disappointing
