To be frank I feel that many are reading too much into this rule of log amenment.

The rule has been introduced to prevent the doctoring of logs. Doctoring does not mean correcting errors. The rule is now 'You must record what was sent' If I send the call or part of the exchange correctly and I record it incorrectly then I am complying with the rules if I amend my log to what was sent, not breaching it!

I am therefore with Chris on this one, I am not a good typist and need to look at the keyboard and not the screen when fielding a call. If I make an error when running  then the other guy may correct me - if he doesn't then it is a bust. If I know I made a keyboard error or messed up the logger, in a keyboard tangle  I keep a written note to fix later and I see no harm in that.

Of the several thousand logs they get just how many get 'doctored' to provide an advantage?. my guess is very few but they need to send out the message. Far better in my view if they were to ban SCP. SCP is cheating by any other name. If they can't copy then they should move on. As a low power contester I do not get much trouble on cw but on ssb I get a lot of problems with guys getting the last letter of my call. They copy the C4. Now there are quite a few C4's active in the CQ events, so I get C4I?, C4M?, C4N?! It is just a guessing game. As I am the last letter in the suffix alphabet it can be many exchanges before they get there. I used to feel the need to stick with it but now when I know they are guessing from SCP I tune on up to the next runner.

Good faith and fair play is the name of the game and  correcting cock-ups does not contradict that ethic.
