Hello all
Interesting to read the other reports - great to hear about M4A and their
young operators.
Conditions were a bit strange here at 57.8 degrees North - very exciting on
10m, but a bit tough going on 20m. I think the MUF must have been very high
at times on both days, maybe.
I was able to run stations on bands I did not expect to be able to - 160m,
80m and 10m, but my main 'QSO volume' bands 20m and 15m were disappointing.
I found it particularly difficult to work any significant number of 3-point
QSOs, which is the key to a good final score. Some of the rates were high
though - on 10m I worked 7 stations in 1 minute on several occasions. Moved
loads of mults between bands.
This was my second WW SSB using a K3 as my main radio and it was my second
disappointment - I find the harsh audio from the K3 RX tiring - much more so
than my 1000MP which was my second radio for SO2R. 20m was utter torture
despite a 5ele monobander at 80' and some power - there were loads of
splattery signals about.
WinTest could not recognise which DXCC entity Z60WW, TO2A and TO9R were in,
so my claimed score should increase.
Finished with 3350 QSOs for 3.5 Mpts.
I like the new CQ WW rules a lot - submitted my log this morning with just
one QSO altered to X-QSO.
Hope our friends from VP2MDG can get home on time - not looking good with
the hurricane approaching. I think one of the ops was having trouble with
the MD bit changing to MD4K hi.
