Congratulations on the score Nigel, you weren't far off bagging every
DXCC+ going on 10M, but a shame you missed Z37.
I used my SCC M7X but I was only practising as unfortunately I was out
on Sunday, so was popping in and out of the shack seeing what I could
work between family stuff, then watched the VU F1 Qualifying on Sat
morning and the race on Sunday evening. But strangely I still made 2/3
of the QSOs that I made last year. I think this year's short NA runs I
had were better with the Writelog rate meter clocking 356 Qs p/h, and
the short call definitely helping, although GM7X's recent activity in
the IOTA contest took its toll with the SCP and slowed some QSOs.
Antenna was a 5 ele Yagi @45ft with a dipole @90deg on the second RX.
Its a shame my QTH isnt any good for 10M, I have an S1-2 crackle when
beaming to NA and an S7 crackle when beaming to SA, neither clear-able
by the NB. I could hear many callers in the noise but there was no way I
could drag them out.
2012 QSOs 1229 Zones 34 DXCC 115 (About 600K)
2011 QSOs 1887 Zones 40 DXCC 133 (812,235)
I didn't realise I had the G 10M SB-Assisted record! Tnx for the
pointing that out Nigel.
Funniest non-QSO was 'Break Break this is the 501 in San Diego' I said
you are in the Ham Radio band and he replied 'Sorry man, wrong switch'
Lots of YLs running and calling in and a few mobiles on the road, and
callers asking what it was all about.
