I have the current Down East Microwave XVRTR for sale.  It is a 144 MHz i.f. 
and produces 3 watts out.  It works great.  Attached to a 6 foot boom looper 
I worked K4TO from 4 grids (400 miles or so) in the UHF Contest from the car.
