Several thoughts:
1. If there are additional points to be awarded for qsos beyond one's
adjacent grid, do so only for 144 MHz and above. Distant grid qsos on six meter
E-skip reflect no special skill, other than being there. Less skill than a 100
mile qso in an adjacent grid.
2. It is not big as a practical matter, but for years I have tried,
unsuccessfully, to find the rationale for this rule from the General Rules for VHF
Contests:
1.2. Individuals and stations are limited to one entry per contest.
As many HF operators may be aware, for years I have been operating from
multiple stations in the (HF) CW Sweepstakes. Nobody has ever complained that I
worked them several times from stations that otherwise would have likely been
inactive. Why can I not go to these same stations, or elsewhere, work people
multiple times in the VHF contests, and then submit the fruits of my effort?
3. Though not a big fan of categories for everything, if new categories are
being considered (e.g. a 6-2-432 category, IMHO a good idea), how about a
middle ground category of 6 through 1296? That would give a reasonable step up
from the three band category, but not to the level of the real microwave geeks.
