Argue against technological evolution all you want to, but the world around us
is changing. January VHF SS 2004 included technologies and strategies that were
unavailable 5-years ago and they were a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

In the upcoming days, you will hear stories of double-digit percentage score
increases based on the use of these technologies and strategies. What you will
need to understand is that the people who are using them are nothing special
(though their score may make them appear so). They have simply chosen to APPLY
new tools and strategies rather than ignore them.

[[Tool #1: WSJT]] You don't need huge power and large antennas to work grids
100's of km's away anymore.

You need persistence and the right tools. YOU supply the persistence, get this
tool at: http://pulsar.princeton.edu/~joe/K1JT/ and you can join the WSJT
listserve by sending a blank email to:
mailto:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wsjtgroup/

[[Tool #2: HamIM]] You CAN work EVERY rover in EVERY local grid on EVERY band.
Remember that home-station that said, "catch me later for the uWave's...it'm too
busy on 2m now"? HamIM makes that EASY to do, too.

You need persistence and the right tools. YOU supply the persistence, get this
tool at: http://w2ev.rochesterny.org. Join the email list by sending a blank

TOP SECRET INFORMATION <giggle>: You can't grab this stuff on the day before the
contest and hope that you will be savvy enough to use it for the contest. You
will get disappointed and give up. Instead...use the time that you have now,
BEFORE the June VHF QSO Party, getting familiar with the systems and their
conventions. You will be rewarded in the June event.

PropNET: If the band is open and no one is TXing, does anyone hear it?
HamIM : Messaging the all-ham way, find Rovers as they go to play.
That HamIM, that HamIM -- I'm sure you'll like that HamIM.
