[VHFcontesting] More Rules = More Controversy - Again

Here it goes again with all the crap about VHF rules. It seems that quite a few folks are paranoid about someone cheating or having an advantage over them. I always thought the idea behind VHF contesting was to generate maximum activity on these supposedly under-used bands and demonstrating the fact that they were being used so as not to lose them. Anyone remember 220 - 222? I believe 902 is now being threatened. 
   
  I wish everyone would stop arguing and just operate on these bands. I saw this same sort of things when rule changes were proposed earlier this year.......all it generated was alot of bickering. The reality of VHF contesting is that there is never going to best a set of rules that is fair to everyone. It's mission impossible due to geographic advantages and the characteristics of VHF and above frequencies. I got so fed up with all the stuff about roving and the use of APRS that I dismantled the rover and sold most of my VHF/UHF gear. There are too many other aspects of Amateur Radio to occupy my time with. I'll keep an eye open on 6 when the time is right and maybe hand out a few contacts during contests. I won't bother submitting a log as the whole VHF contesting thing just isn't worth it anymore.
   
  For all of you stick it out, good luck. It seems like all the arguments are actually driving folks away from the VHF and up bands. That's a shame, but I, for one, am done with them.
