I think I need to take the time to clarify my positions and what I think of some of the key people brought into this. Its getting pretty twisted and perhaps I am too direct.

Jim,

You are missing the point. How am I lying by saying he is undocumented?
I brought up reasons why undocumented rovers could be an issue when someone asked why. This issue existed long before the June contest. I do not know why he failed to post a log. The dog could of ate it. Maybe he only met the team for one grid intersection and a photo op. I surmised a reason from a skeptical point of view.

I think I have spoke with him before or perhaps it was his or his partner’s posts . I am not 100 percent sure. I was under the impression that he did his own thing and he sometimes went with another vehicle for safety when he is far from home. I would have to go back and browse the soap box entries and posts for the facts. His call does not come to mind when I think of Massive grid circling efforts, his scores reflect that. He is not the only undocumented major participant in history. The flaw is how the rules address this when we cap it to 100 QSOs with limited rovers. The conversation has moved well beyond that. I never said he is cheating. I see a hole in the rules. Not a big one as compared to others.

The history shows he is a good operator in other contests where the rules are much clearer. His posts indicate he had one partner, (find the call yourselves thanks)

I was under the impression that they don’t take the opportunity to grid circle as much as others do. It would probably still be team roving in my book, but not the ARRL’s if it is limited to 100 contacts.

I just find it sad that it gets personal when we question if the intent of the rules are being followed. We don’t need to question every rover everywhere. But it begs the question when they ignore the intent and flaunt it on a soap box and call themselves gentlemen while putting people who question the practices but avoid using their calls unless brought out in the first place.

The reason they feel singled out, is because they are one of a small percentage of us rovers doing this. If you are the only thief on the block, you feel nervous when things are noticed missing. (not to imply they are thieves, its an analogy)

And to James s’ point, we have plowed it before. The intent was to separate the two rover practices to resolve this. If they did I would get bored someday and give them a run for their money up here. But not until the rules are solved and I get bored.

The rule changed failed because the VUAC and ARRL in my opinion is being too nice and trying to make everyone happy and making mush out of principles.

As to your other post (KK6MC). You would of moved up a place, but the big difference when there’s a 100% difference between first and second in the rover category and number 1 may of quadrupled his score based on the interactions with his team mates alone.

I bring up the grid circlers logs because KK6MC used them to their defense. I can’t find the logs online. Maybe I am assuming too much when I think the group gave them to him in order to defend themselves. (Like a 527 group). I don’t know that. But if you knew what you knew to defend them. Then what about those percentages I asked for?

Also……
If points don’t matter lets take them away.

I read the post you linked. That is not entirely true or the ARRL is the liar when they said they worked 98 percent of their own team stations to win in QST magazine.
That’s what happened one year in QST, look it up, it was in the plain states rove.

I liked some of Wayne’s efforts and spirit to drive to the east coast and compete directly with the big boys out there in his Van. Then it changed. I personally believe he beat the old school circlers and rovers at their own game. Someday this may be settled and I would still see his efforts as one of the greats. I disagree with what he is fabricating here.

KK6MC’s rover station looks well equipped and is a value to Rural New Mexico . I don’t mean to pick on him either.

go have fun in the contest boys...
