FYI,

W4SM's WinGrid does most (not all) of this within a <600k self contained .exe file. Works very well, lightweight, and should run on about any version of Windows (WINE on nix too) without dependencies.  Unzip it to a folder, create a shortcut, and presto. Have used it for years, very handy.
