Hello everyone. If you plan to attend the Southeastern VHF Society
Conference to be held at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky on
April 23 - 24, 2010 but haven't registered yet DO NOT mail your registration
now but register at the conference starting Friday morning. Further
information on the conference, venue, etc. can be found at
<http://www.svhfs.org/conference.html> www.svhfs.org/conference.html.
The conference will be held at the Space Science Center. A map showing the
location can be found at <http://www.svhfs.org/MSUCampusMap.pdf>
http://www.svhfs.org/MSUCampusMap.pdf. You can park in the parking lot
located in front of the building. If you don't want to drive, there will be
a bus available in the morning and evening to take folks to and from the
hotels and the Space Science Center.
The conference schedule can be found here
<http://www.svhfs.org/2010ConferenceSchedule.pdf>
http://www.svhfs.org/2010ConferenceSchedule.pdf. Note that this is
tentative and will most likely change some.
There will be a banquet Saturday night but there will NOT be a luncheon on
Friday. The banquet speaker will be Dr. Benjamin Malphrus who will speak to
us about the KySpace Cubesat program. The banquet buffet is Sliced Roast
Beef, Herb Baked Chicken and BBQ Pork Chops, with mixed veg., corn, Herb
Seasoned Potatoes, Mixed Greens Salad, Cheesecake with assorted toppings,
rolls, etc.
On Friday we intend to run tours of the Space Science Center and the 21
meter dish antenna on an ad hoc basis, with sign up sheets at the
registration table. We will set the times based on the other events
happening that day. We will also have a sky show in the theater that day as
well, which we will set up the same way. Shows are an hour long, the tour of
the 21 meter dish antenna will be an hour, and the building tour is half of
an hour.
Conference chairman Jeff, WA3ZKR is hosting an eyeball QSO party,
particularly for the early arrivals who may have traveled far! It will not
be elaborate, just dogs and burgers, with a cooler of assorted beers and
sodas, chips, etc. It is planned for the afternoon of April 22, from 2-9
PM. The address is:
Jeff Kruth
317 Briarwood Lane
Morehead, KY 40351
Jeff lives almost right beside I-64, very close to the hotels. You can find
him on MapQuest, etc. Jeff asks that if you are driving, bring your gear
and show off your work! It is always nice to see what the other guy is
doing. There will be lots of lab benches for display, secure areas, plenty
of room at the conference.
