[VHFcontesting] 222 MHz radios

Dave,

Here in the DFW area, the bulk of my QSO's are on SSB with my Yaesu
FT-736r, however I do work a lesser number of people on FM too. The latter
are usually new to contesting operators that haven't invested in the band
yet, and realized they have a HT they had 222, enabling 223.5 QSO's. And as
others have said, the Rovers seem to have a slightly higher percentage of
SSB to FM capability. And there were also a few that didn't realize that FM
simplex is a valid mode on all the bands.

I use a Yaesu FT-736R transceiver and Mirage/KLM amplifier. I got the FT
only for 222 so it is overkill, but the choices are slim. I use it for
cw,ssb,and fm during a contest.
